We had a busy week learning about what makes up our family. We talked about our literal families and our classroom family. Throughout our week we practiced using our HighScope curriculum, where we have a dramatic play station. Each student plans what they are going to do, then the child executes what they planned and finally recall what they did during the station. We ended the week by making a “friendship mix,” each ingredient was special and when we mixed them together it made an extra special snack for all of us to share. Please remember next week to bring a food item from your culture to share with the class on Thursday. Thursday is also our Open House and Book Fair, I’m looking forward to seeing all of you!
Monday is the official start of fall, time to get out those sweaters (hopefully). Just as we move from one season to the next; we are starting our next unit in our curriculum, “My Family.” We are going to dive into talking about things regarding our personal families, school family and family in general. We will also ad in some fall fun. I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Next week please remember to bring a baby picture of your little one. Also, please bring an ingredient for our friend mix (which is like a trail mix, so items like: cereal, mini-marshmallows, animal cookies, pretzels, etc).
Thank you for another great week. I appreciate you being patient with me being gone two days, due to a kidney stone. It’s being stubborn so I may have to have a very small surgery later on, but I will keep you updated. We had a fun week celebrating Mrs. Donna’s birthday, thank you for helping her feel so special. We also had a very special time celebrating grandparents day Friday. Academically we learned a lot about prepositions and learning how to answer -wh questions through reading different stories. Our color the last two weeks has been “orange,” if you want to practice spelling it with our kiddos. The link to the video we listen to is as follows: https://youtu.be/SnmKjg3fmNY We may be small, but we are mighty. Monday, we had a special visit with Mrs. Jenna's daddy, step-mom and all the kids favorite "baby Gavin." Each of us have really enjoyed our station rotations. They enjoy getting time with all the teachers in our group. This has really helped our day fly by, including our week. This month, Big Day Pre-K has us exploring “School,” and all of our routines that go along with that. For example you may have seen our activity going over our hand washing routine. Please enjoy your weekend and we will see everyone on Tuesday and continue our talk on school routines.
